I have activities I do everyday. I could cut out the unecassary things to make more time for the hamster but I just dont know if its worth it? HELP!
Hamsters need attention, so if you dont think you will have time to show it love, i wouldnt bother getting it, and if you are away for a few days or weeks, would you have somone to watch it? just simple things you need to think about before you bring a new addition home.
You would have to consider giving up some unnecessary activities of your day, because you don't wanna neglect your poor little hamster! They're a TAD bit of work to take care of, since you have to feed it everyday, refill its water tank , clean out its cage, and of course spend time with it! And maybe also consider the noise it makes, you could be trying to sleep and it might feel like getting on its wheel or start "squeaking". It's a fun little pet to have, so I hope you can make the right decision.
Oh, and another thing! The hamsters themselves aren't very expensive at all, not more than $ 20 at the most, and that's pushing it a little. But the cage and equiptment can get pretty costly.

I hope this helped!:)
Hey:)
Hamsters are one of the most common and easiest rodents to care for. I would strongly recommend a hamster as a starter rodent as they are easily cared for and it does not take up much of your time to care for them properly.
Hamsters are nocturnal which means they sleep during the day and become active at dusk and during the night (which is good as that means you can still do your daytime activities: D) The only point i will make about this is that if you plan to keep the Hamsters home in your room ... they can sometimes get a little noisy as they are wide awake while your trying to sleep!!
Hamsters, like most mammals like routine so try to feed/clean/handle your hamster at around the same time every day. I suggest around dusk when your hamster is becoming active. Generally hamsters are easy animals to tame and are much easier to handle than Gerbils/rats Etc. They may take a little while to tame at the beginning but after a few weeks you will find them getting much calmer. One thing i would say to avoid being bitten (which really isnt as sore as people say it is) wait until your hamster is fully awake before you attempt to pick him/her up, they can e very nippy when they are sleepy!!

Hamsters are nocturnal so if you cant play with them in the day thats fine becuase they will be asleep
You should be free at night to get them out and play with them for a bit, and put them in a ball for their run around.
Hamsters live from 1-3 years, mine lives 18 months, 24 months and i still have one thats 2 months.
Hamsters cost about £ 7 but their equipment and cages can come up to a total of £ 100
Always speak to your nearest pet shop before you buy an animal, and make sure you have the space required.
They need to be cleaned out fully everyweek, but everyday you need to chnage their water and empty theie 'toilet' corner
Hi
I think I could help you here:)
Hamsters are not very interested in humans, can bite quite often, but are very very cute. Dwarf hamsters are very nippy, EXTREMELY cute, but it doesn't hurt when they bite. It is also veery easy to lose a dwarf one.

Generally, they only need 15 to 30 minutes of time spent with them a day, they are low maintenence and whichever one you choose, you won't regret it. If you have children, I'd suggest going down the rat route (It is SO unlikely they will bite, they are really friendly and they really interact with you). You could even go down that route without children, but they do need extra attention, and you need to keep 2, have a bigger cage etc.
So it really depends how much time you have to spend. I suggest a dwarf hamster (Only need a tiny cage, but tend to bite the bars. Keep them in a different room to your bedroom!) If you are worried about getting bitten or don't have much room. But syrian hamsters are very cuddly and cute if you're willing to put the attention in. I had one and it only bit me once, which was when I HAD to grab it to stop it running away ( Wasn't its fault, i didn't make sure the room was safe first!). My dwarfie nipped a lot towards the end of her life, but it doesn't hurt at all, just a pinch. Syrians need a slightly bigger cage.

But if you can afford the bigger cage, and can spend time, you should definately get rats. They are cleaner than any other rodent, interact with you, cuddle with you, love you, but are demanding. Choose wisely, I hope I helped :)
defenetly get one! ask the pet store and ask for the friendliset one in stock. i have one it was the best in the store! she is almost having her first year anniversery with us on nov. 19. hamsters dont need too much care but you should have time at night to play with them. defenetly try the hammy. best pet i ever had.
hope i helped
