I have been advertising that I am looking to give a gerbil free to good home. I have been letting people at schools with young kids know.
I have also been doing this for my Hamster too.
It isn't that I don't love them but I don't really have the time for them. I have been working a lot of hours and my gerbil needs more time since it's friend died a few weeks ago and it doesn't like other gerbils so I figured that it would be good for a child about 10 years old to have to play with.
Both are very loving they loved to be held and kissed. I had a child of 8 years old hold both of them at different times of course. Well she just loves them but couldn't take them home. But she is looking for me. Thanks for the advise and I am not mailing these animals I don't want any unwanted stress put on my loving pets.
You could make a flyer and drop it off at an elementary school's office maybe a classroom would like to adopt one of them as the class pet? Then put flyers at your local vet's office and talk to the shelter to see what their protocal is on rodents (some just put them down)

If you advertise on craigslist make sure its someone who wants them as a pet and not snakefood. But I really think trying to get a class to adopt it would be nice!
