I left the room for a moment and came back to find my younger sister playing with the rats but not realizing there living things, she was swinging one by its tail and the other was being squeezed, i instantly made her stop but she is only a young girl so please don't hate her. I got the rats and theyre hearts are pumping very fast, they are ruffled and sitting still doing nothing, they refuse to take treats from me and squeak when touched. Now they are hiding in there bed , and not coming out
They used to be great, trained and tame, what now !?!?! Can they go back to normal? PLEASE HELP!
Animals are very forgiving. Our Ratamataz was angry with me when I put her back after free roaming. She would not come by me for a couple of days. She eventually got over it.
I would check them out as soon as they let you, though. Make sure the tail on the one is alright, and the other one does not have any sore spots when you touch the sides. Keep an eye for a few days to be sure , but animals are pretty hearty. If they look fine now, chances are no damage was done.

As for the squeaking, my one mouse got her nose bumped at the vet by the assistant at the front desk. My girl blamed me, and squeaked every time I got near her for a week. I just continued to talk to her, give treats near her and so forth until she forgave me.
I hope your rats get past this soon. Animals truly are forgiving critters, so just be patient until they do.
