Good Robo Hamster Cage?

  http://www.petsmart.com/product/index . js ...

^ ^ I have that cage right now and I want to get another because it's kind of getting small. Any suggestions on a cage that would fit a Robo Hamster?

** And any ideas of what bedding I should get? I have Carefresh right now and it has a really bad odor to it even when I just put it in the cage without the hamster in it ... Any ideas?
I 'd do a aquarium tank ... my hamsters and gerbils always did well in tanks ... a 20 gal is actually more than enough room.

As to bedding, just stay away from soft wood stuff, I usually do a mix of two or three different ones, and carefresh isn't worth the $, I actually found getting petco's knock off of the carefresh bedding plus using aspen shavings works ok to control odor. I like how the aspen smells so I always toss some in and since it is a hardwood it's ok to use. I've used a lot of the commercial beddings, and honestly finding one that works well is hard ... I have rats who are litter trained, so I've gone the whole route of yesterdays news (I hated it), used wood stove pellets at one point (but for a full bedding it wouldn't not be good, for a litter pan I kind of liked it), and several other things ... really finding something that controls the odor while appealing to your senses is what it is. If you don't like how carefresh smells switch to something else and see if there is a difference.
DO NOT USE AN AQUARIUM TANK!!! It is super bad for them because the ammonia from their pee builds up and damages there delicate respiratory systems. Because of the poor ventilation in tanks not only do you have to worry about health problems, but you need to clean them twice as much as cages. I would suggest something like

But with the second one you might want to check how big the spacing is ... (if its too big for your robo and you still want the cage you can go buy some hardware cloth to attach to the outside)

With cages you always want to buy the biggest you can afford. Remember to check craigslist! There is always people getting rod of really nice cages for cheap
I have no clue where Pinky is coming from. As long as you clean the cage on a regular basis, aquarium tanks make awesome homes for hamsters. I've kept hamsters in aquariums since I was 5 (I'm turning 21 next month) and my hamsters always live long happy and healthy lives. I've had over 20 (I've had several at once and one female I bought unknowingly pregnant and she had 10 babies) hamsters and know many others who prefer aquariums. They are easy to clean and you have no issues seeing your hammie. My robo is in a small wire cage until I can purchase a nice 20 gallon long tank for her. Make sure they have a wheel and stuff to hide in and explore. Good luck!!!
You could always make a cage out of bins! You can make it as big as you want and they'll have plenty of rooms! Much more room then you can get out of those expensive plastic cages. Your hamsters won't know the differance between cheap and expensive. They'll basically like everything if you give them plenty of room.

It could also be a late Saturday afternoon project with some friends or something. Haa: P

I always thought bin cages were lame, but now I really regret buying cages. I should've made them. A lot cheaper and a happier hammie.
I have pretty big arousal at such questions, keep with the ask
