I want to put some toys into my guinea pigs cage because he is very playful, but I don't know what I can use. Are there any items from around the house that I can use that he wont end up chewing on or getting sick from??
Yes, the best things you can use are empty tissue boxes, with the hole and plastic cut out, or toilet paper or paper towel rolls, make sure it's cut down the middle lengthwise on one side so your pig won 't get his head stuck.
Your pig will love to chew on them and push them around.
Get a cardboard roll and fill it with Timothy hay. He will enjoy chewing it and moving it around. You can also try a brown paper bag filled with Timothy hay for him to dig into and have fun destroying. Guinea pigs love tunnels too and anything they can hide in so you can get a cardboard box and cut a hole for him to go in and out.
From my experience guinea pigs don't really play with toys. They only seem to enjoy the empty toilet paper roll (stuffed with hay or veggies), empty tissue boxes, tunnels, and I make mine blanket hammocks (not to high off the ground).
pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com I think that guinea pigs would much rather be out of their cage running around. My guinea pig would rather do this any day than play with toys. He will run around and "popcorn" for hours on end.:)
You can use fabric bouncy balls bells and things that wont come apart
