How old does a male rat live to be?

I have a male rat. His name is Otis.I have heard they live to be 2 years old but my rat turned 2 in May and he is showing no sign of getting old. He still acts like a cute little baby rat.

When I got Otis when he was a baby, he seemed lonely so we went back to pet-co the next day and bought one of his brothers. We named him Tiny. They were all happy.

Then when they were about 1, and Tiny died of a stoke; his back legs became paralyzed. He refused to eat and he died.

But since then, Otis has really became more active and social. So how much longer do you think Otis will live? Do you think Tiny's death effected him?
The Average rats life-span is 2-3 years

but my rats have made it to a total of 4 years.:)

Especially if your rat is healthy with no respiratory infections and no signs of rattling in his chest he should be with you atleast a few more years.

I dont think losing his companion will effect him too much but i think lots more attention from you will help even more:)
probably Tiny bossed Otis around, and Otis was jealous of Tiny, and Otis, if healthy, will live 6 years!
Tiny's death probably didn't effect him. Male rats live up to 5 years or more with the proper care. Hope this helps!
i dont think the death effects small animals like that but it can effect like larger animals
