Unusual Rat behavior?

I got my rat almost 3 weeks ago. But since she's been comfortable in her home, she has been doing weird things. If she wants me to clean her water, she'll kick or carry her bedding into her water bowl and look at me . If she's out of water, she'll just sit in the bowel and look at me. She dunks her food blocks in her water and carry them back to her nesting spot. She also buries her food in different spots.

My first rat was never like that and I'm wondering if this is unusual behavior for her.
Every rat has a unique personality, like the rest of us. Behavior may be quite different between individuals, but as long as everyone's healthy & happy there's no problem.

Your clever girl has figured out how to tell you that she needs fresh water. When you get a water bottle for her she may come up with a new way of communicating. Our boys will disconnect their bottle so it falls onto the floor if the level gets too low (I'd love to catch them @ it). Some of our rats will also knock their food dish off it's shelf when they're out of food & we used to live with a cat who would bring his empty food dish into the living room to show us when he got hungry.

As for how she buries her food, some rats have 1 favorite stash spot while others like to mix it up & some don't bother hiding their food. Her blocks * may * smell or taste more appetizing when she moistens them, or she could simply be playing.

Please consider adopting another female as a companion for your rat.
Get her a waterbottle too, and position it so the dripper is over the bowl to catch excess water. So even if her water is dirty she still has a clean source and can muck up the water bowl all she wants.

my rats tend to roll in the water bowl, its just their personality if they figure something out they like they'll keep doing it. She probably likes to wet her food down but doesnt understand it doesnt stay wet long after she hides it. My rats will get their food and treats and drop them down the ramp and run back for more then once they're done ... push them all out the side of the cage trying to stuff them in the corner. Rats are just weird little clowns .
Nope.
