Aspen's okay. Cedar & pine are unhealthy for small animals.
No it's not safe for them. What you can use are fleece liners, you just lay down newspaper and towels down on the bottom and then lay down a piece of fleece . You wouldn't need to buy bedding and at the end of the week, wash the fleece and towels and replace the newspaper. For more information, here's a link.

They're safe, but in my opinion, not the best. DO NOT use pine or cedar. The oils are bad. I'd recommend recycled pulp beddings such as CareFresh. Hope this helps:)
I have been told that Aspen Shavings have a dangerous oil and not to use them. I use pine shavings.
No. If you want to save money, just use cat litter - thats what I use with mine.
