Okay so I have 3 mice all girls 2 of them were born on March 31...and I have a COMPLETELY black mouse (FEMALE!) She is SO fat she is about as big as my hand! She isn't a rat but she is a mouse and she only about 8 or 9 months old I have never had a mouse like this! She has almost always been this way! She doesn't exercise at all well...maybe about 3 minutes a day!


So my question is why is she this way! And what can I do to have her loose weight? SHE IS NOT PREGNANT! And I have a wheel in her cage but she only used it for like 3 minutes a day! She hates to run around! So my question is WHy, WHy Why!

Handle her more than the other two, get her out and make her walk your hands, constantly moving one hand below the other so she just keeps walking. Encourage her to run up and down your arms. Make a safe, escape-proof area on your floor / bed and play with her there, encouraging her to run. pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

Also, stop feeding your mouse high-calorie treats (such as rodent chocolate ones) and switch instead to healthy ones, such as carrot or small amounts of apple. Whilst you are handling the lazy rat you can give the other two a choccy treat then!

If she hasn't lost weight within a week or two, or her behaviour changes, or she shows any sign of ill health, I'd advise you to take her to a vets straight away.

With her new weight she probably is more lazy to do anything now.
It may be better to get one of those 'Tunnel Cages'? Kind of like a maze used for hamsters but Mouses could use it too.
So in that way to get around she would HAVE to move. So I hope this helps a bit..
