How to Convince your parents to let you get a hamster?
My Moms friend gave me a hamster when I was 7 (now i'm 11 and a lot more responsible) and then my 12 year old brother (who is 16 now) got one because he was jealous. I took very good care of my hamster but after a week or two my brother stopped caring for his hamster and then like a month later we got a dog so I was caring for all 3 pets and then after a while (maybe 6 months) I forgot to change their water and stuff but I keep trying to tell my mom now that i'm really responsible because I would only be caring for one pet and i'm OLDER, but she doesn't want to hear it. She said maybe in 3-4 months but I don't want to wait that long. HELP PLEASE!!!!!
Hi, I had the same problem about getting a Guinea Pig. What you should do is....

1. Ask her why you can't have one (i mean she has to have a reason.

2. Tell her you will make sure it is fed and has water daily, play with it daily, and clean it's cage once a week or as needed.

3. Tell her you won't let it stink and you can't keep it if it does.

4. Do chores without her asking and do what she asks you to do without complaining.

5. Don't beg because that is not mature and might make her think you are not responsible.

Follow these things and you can even think of more!

Hope this helps!!! :)))

Had this same problem with Guinea Pig .
1 ask her why not
2 tell her that you already know how to take care of them
3 show you are responsible by offering to do extra chores and stick to it
4 tell her if you dont take good care of the hamster she can bring it back
She said wait - so you wait. Period. You're old enough to understand the concept of "no" and "maybe later".... so instead of acting like an immature child, act like the mature responsible young adult you claim to be. Stop harassing her and accept that right now, she says "no hamster."

She is the adult, she is the one paying for this animal, and she will be the one ultimately responsible for it. Contrary to popular belief, mom does NOT need a reason to say "no".
