How long does a dead rat smell last?
I think a rat died in my walls because i check everywhere for it and didnt find it so i would like to know how long will the smell of the dead rat will last
answer: Depends on you... how long do you want it to last? If for not very long try these steps:
1. Put Downy sheets where the smell is the strongest... this will neutralize the odor.
2. Plug a plug in in... vanilla, apple, ocean mist, ect.
3. Open your doors or windows for some fresh air and to keep the air on the move.
The smell will last for as long as it takes the animal to decompose. It is the decomposing organisms (bacteria and fungal organisms) that are causing the smell. I am not sure how long this will take, I imagine a few few weeks no longer.
