Some important supplies you will need are ...
- A cage intended for rodents (found in your local pet shop)
- A water bottle intended for rodents
- A food dish
- You will want to buy rodent seeds (found in your local pet shop)
- You will need critter sawdust to place in the cage
- You can also find rodent bedding, or you can just use paper towel (something it can make a nest out of)
- You can also buy accessories for the cage (you can find these at your local pet shop) including ... a hamster wheel (can be used for mice to)
- You may also want to pick up some chew blocks (this will prevent their teeth from over growing)
Hope this helped!:)
A Critter keeper is the best way to go, cage wise. It should have wire walls. Or, a ten gallon tank is good too. The best thing about a critter keeper is that it comes with everything, wheel, water bottle, food dish. You would have to buy everything if you just went with a tank. But a tank is easier to handle and to clean.
pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com Also, you should probably get two mice of the same gender. They will get along fine, but they will get lonely, no matter how much time you spend with them, they need their own kind.
As for food and bedding, hamster food is a good start, along with lab blocks. Lab blocks are VERY important, and can be found at most pet stores. Lab blocks also help with chewing, and keeping their teeth down. Also, feel free to give them cheerios, dog food, total cereal, dried pasta, rolled oats, and fresh fruits and veggies. Careful and the fresh stuff, if they get runny poo, stop right away.
Bedding, pine works. NO CEDAR. NEVER USE CEDAR. Carefresh works as well.
Hope this helps! Have fun with your mouse!
I dont like mice ... they smell A LOT and are super dumb and you cant really take them out to "play" very well because they are so small ... . I am totally a rat person, they are lovable SUPER smart and they get attached to their people ... ANYWAYS!!! For a mouse you will need lab blocks for food, they are nutritionally complete. For bedding get either paper bedding such as care fresh, but if that is a little too expensive you can get wood shavings but ONLY get aspen shavings as ceder (all though it smells good) causes respiratory problems. Keep it in a cage, it has better ventilation than tanks or those plastic habitats. Make sure the bars have super small spacing so your new buddy will not escape. Remember bigger is better for cages, but you dont need one very big for one mouse. You will need to clean the cage about twice a week (rats are only once a week: P) as mice smell, as a rule of thumb if the cage smells clean it (how ever male mice smell pretty much all the time. Female mice arnt quite as bad but still smell)
