Today, my guinea pigs toe nail completely fell off (it was black before) and its starting to bleed a little bit!!! What can I do and how can I treat it? There sue to be a small animal vet ehre, and now there isnt so I cant do anything about it @!! PLEASE help I am having anxiety!
I feel stupid as cant remember the name of the product but at any pet store you can buy a powder that is for putting on pets nails if you cut them to short and they are bleeding, it will stop all bleeding at once, you need to go to the pet store and get that asap. wash his feet to make sure the nail is clean and put on the powder.
okay first i want u too clean off the blood with a little water and soap, then wrap the toe in a cloth and there's no need to worry it will heal by itself, toenails grow back and guinea pigs have fast growing nails. also look in its cage for anything dangerous that could have caused this and take it out. good luck: D
Maybe you have not been cutting the nails regularly and it grew too long. The poor guinea pig must be in a lot of pain and could have even broken his toe. You will have to travel further out to find a suitable vet to get your guinea pig checked. Put his foot in some flour to stop the bleeding but do not leave this as he needs help.
Sounds like it grew too long and broke with him walking on it. GO to the store asap and get some styptic powder or gel. It immediately stops bleeding and gives some kind of relief. You can use a good amount flour too but its messier and not as immediate.
pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com Cut his nails every 3-4 weeks to prevent it from happening again.
It probably just injured itself playing-clean up the blood (don't use chemicals on your guinea pig though! Look up vets in your area and take your guinea pig to see the vet.=) I'll pray for your guinea pig.=)
Why would you get a guinea pig anyways?
get a dog, but not in a mean way, but its your opinion
