What is a good size home for dumbo rats?

I had two dumbo rats before and it always felt like their home was too small. I want to get a couple of them again but this time I want to make sure they have a good home. Also, the last ones had a hamster cage but I remember reading that they should have a certain kind of cage ... just can't remember what exactly or where to get one!
They need LARGE cages due to activity level.

Think of a multi level ferret cage or chinchilla cage, and you'd got the right idea.

Something like this: http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/pr ...

Of course you don't have to get THAT cage. Its just an example. I think its 2sq ft per rat is what you go by .. But of course, extra room is always great!

I have my boys in a ferret cage with 4 levels. They never get bored!

The one thing to be sure of .. Make sure the cage has 1/2 in bar spacing if you plan on getting young rats that can slip out through bigger spaces than that. My males were 3 months when I got them, and to big to slip out of the 3/4in bar spacing on the ferret cage .. If they had been too small, I would have simply wrapped it in a wire mesh fabric ...
try getting a cage that is inteneded for guinea pigs . get a nice cage at jacks pets (if they have one in your area) or try petsmart. i have owned several dumbo rats and this works. you can get a nice cage between 39.99 and 69.99 dollars
"Dumbo" rats ? I find this offensive, even though I am a hamster. Oh yeah, a Emperor-of-the-Universe Size Planet will do.
You need a cage thats designed for rats. Or a ferret/chinchilla cage.
The sewer is a good home for them.
get a dog but not in a mean way your opinion
