Hi, I just bought a second gerbil but before I bought her I had my first gerbil checked for his or her sex the clerks couldn't tell me so I went to ask a nurse and even she was sort of hesitant she took it out back and then came back saying my gerbil was a male. I bought a smaller female and their behavior is kind of erratic my first gerbil keeps chasing the second around and sniffing below her tail is this normal? When I put them in the same box the lady who helped me get my second gerbil said if they were to fight they would do it right away and they didn't. Now Im not really sure what the hell is going on with them can someone help me please?!
Hey Ribbitti , Good to see ya.
I have zero gerbil experience but if you want to know if your second gerbil is a female, take her to the shops and start browsing. If it doesn't complain then it's not a male.
I have a contact who knows lots about animals so i'm starring so that she might see it.

To tell a gerbil's gender is very easy. Male gerbils have huge asses where the female doesn't.

Your gerbil could be very curious about the new one or trying to mate.
They probably will breed but she's probably not in seson or is too young
