my short haired Syrian just mated, how should i prepare for

I have had my girl hamster now 4 month's. She is not aggressive at all and is a total sweet heart. We decided to mate her figuring with her unique colors her babies would be beautiful. I put the male and the female together and they had about 3-4 short sessions of action. We are predicting that she is now pregnant. I need answers and fast! I want the mommy and her babies to live long, healthy, and happy lives. Give me all the details please!!! !!!
Really, hamster breeding is serious and it's not a game. You should have known this beforehand but you were smart to ask.

A hamster's litter can be very large, up to something like 15 or so babies at a time. Don't freak out though, it could be as small as 3 or 4. The average is 7. Your hamster will be pregnant for about 15 days before she gives birth. Also, be very careful with the babies. The mother will cannibalize them if she is not satisfied with them, but unless they are born premature or you hurt the babies and make them look weird, then this will most likely not happen. These babies will be able to reproduce at a young age, i think like 3 months old, so make sure that after about a month or a little less, you separate the hamsters into different cages so that they do not mate again. Other tips: Don't use water bowls, use a water feeder and make sure it is low enough for the little hamsters to reach. And I don't know where you got the male short-haired, but keep him away from the mommy and her babies. pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

Hope i helped!
Congratulations!

The mom should know what to do. Make sure that once they are born that the babies are getting enough milk and are keeping warm. If the dad gets too aggressive, take him out of the cage. I've never bred hamsters, so I don't know if he will or not. Good Luck!!
Well good luck! I have experienced something similar to this. I bought my hamster and a few days later there were babies in the cage. Haha. I freaked out . But this is what you do. Do NOT clean the cage until the babies start to travel around the cage with their eyes open and have fur. Also, do not always be by her cage. I know it will be tempting but she will get nervous because she will think you are trying to hurt them. She may eat them. So be prepared. I remember one of my hamsters babies had 3 legs and not 4 so she ate it. They know things like this. Also be sure to take the male hamster out of the cage. I would take him out now just in case because he will eat the babies. Also, if she starts to eat the babies, boil her an egg. It is because she has a lack of protein. Since it was so sudden, I had no idea what to do so she started eating them but I was researching constantly and I saw to boil her an egg and she stopped eating the babies. She had 11 but only 2 survived.: (But yeah. Just make sure there is a constant supply of seed. Also, make sure you give a lot of water. Another thing is not to touch the babies until they walk around the cage, have fur, and there eyes are open. She will eat them if she smells your scent. Around 3-4 weeks you can start to touch the babies. I prefer waiting the extra week so 4. I have a great website under my source. Go to the website. Then click enter website. Then go to Pet Stories which is on the left side of the page and go to Baby Hamster Journal. Excellent source!:) I hope I helped and I wish you luck with your hamsters!!
