my kid was holding the end of my rats tail and it fell off, and i can still see the bone, what should i do
You haven't said how much of it fell off, but either way, it's not a good thing BUT it's not too uncommon either.
You need to either take the rat to the vet to get the rest of the tail surgeically amputated, or just leave the tail to dry up and fall off of its own accord.
Both will be painful for the rat, but surgery takes the pain away quicker.
Things you should consider before taking your rat to the vet for surgery are age, health, or any other possible risks.
The tail won't ever grow back.
If you decide to wait it out, the rat will be in pain until the tail becomes dry and starts to fall off.
Make sure you keep it in it's cage, on paper towel or something soft so that it doesn't get it's tail caught or dragged on anything.
It will keep pretty quiet during this stage, but that's normal.
And remember, if the any other rat you have is running away, grab it by the base of the tail, not the end - it's too delicate.
