I have a guinea pig who is pregnant. I'm not sure how far along she is, or how many there will be. I'm trying to get my mom to take her to a vet to find out, but she thinks it's unnecessary . I also haven't been able to get her to neuter the male, so I may have to get rid of him too if she won't agree to it.
We never planned on her getting pregnant. We were told that the father was male (I wasn't sure but my mom refused to take him back because "pet store employees know more than me"). We've only had them about 2 weeks or so, and they're both young.
I'm moving in a few months, most likely, and I can't bring more than 2 or 3 of them with me. I'll TRY to keep the male (father), and definitely the mother and a female (if she has any).
But I live in Milton, West Virginia. We have some dog shelters, but I've never heard of a guinea pig shelter or anyone who fosters them here. I looked up places online, but couldn't find any at all ...
I need to find them a home as soon as possible. I doubt my mom will drive more than an hour to get me there, so it needs to be some place close.
pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com If I can't find one, I'll just have to sell them by putting up posters at the vet. I don't want to do that, because I won't necessarily know how good they will be with them,
Well you can try posting them on this site once they are born and ready to go.
http://www.guineapighome. com/listings/sh ... These are some other sites I know of for shelters and stuff
http://www.gpan.net/ http://www.craigslist.org/about/sites With any of these sites, be sure to find a suitable owner who you feel confident will car for them properly.
I would call your local shelter and ask them to point you in the right direction. They will know of a place that will take your piggie in. Good Luck with the momma pig .. And finding homes:)
