Theres a big mammary tumor in the middle of my pet rat's back. Can I safely cure/remove it without surgery?
You really should ask a vet before trying to treat it on your own. My rat had a fatty tumor on her neck and the vet gave us medication to decrease the size, but told us that the only way you can get rid of tumors is to surgically remove them. every rat i have ever had has developed tumors and i've only gotten one surgically removed. if your rat is more than a year and a half old, i would not recommend surgery ... not only is the anesthesia really tough for them to recover from, they aren't going to live for too much longer. i've never had a rat that lived to three years old unfortuantely:/they just aren't long-lived animals.
so yes you can treat a tumor, but the only way to get rid of it is to have it removed by a vet.
