Is it okay to feed my pet rat cat kibbles?
not many pet stores around my area sell special rat food. if i buy it online it is very expensive for just a 3 pound bag of oxbow regal rat. i have been feeding my new rat Diamond cat food. along with veggies and such. is this okay to do? or does anyone know of any online pet stores i can get reasonable priced rat food?

thanks

Cat kibble is way too high in protein to be a regular part of a rat's diet. Offer your little guy a selection of whole grains, like unsweetened cereals, bread or things from your local natural food store. Many rats enjoy pasta too. Be careful about feeding too many veggies, which can lead to digestive problems. Variety is key, just like with our own diet.

You might try Drs. Foster and Smith as an online source of food & other supplies.
As Catkin said cat food is far too high in protein. I feed a variation of the Shunamite diet, which was designed by the woman who literally wrote the book on rat diets - "Scuttling Gourmet". You can find the recipe here : http://www.shunamiterats.co.uk/shunamite
