I have had my hamster for almost 2 weeks now and i have sort of taught her not to bite me. I think if i gave her the chance she might still bite but i can't be sure. If i try to pick her up i know she will bite me and she is scared of gardening gloves so i cannot use them. How can i train her to let me pick her up?

hamsters do not like being held. period.
Now then I hold my hamster all the time he doesn't "enjoy" it but he tolerates it, because I added a positive, i.e: a piece of cheese, with a negative the holding. Follow these instructions and start again, correctly.
1) Leave him alone for 1 day; at the end of the day let him smell your hand then leave pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com
2) walk at normal pace to the cage and talk to him; do this repeatedly during the day
3) the next day walk at normal pace to the cage and talk to him again but this time feed him food and treats from your hand.
4) do number 3, but put your hand flat on the cage floor and using your other hand hold his fave treat in a position where he HAS to climb onto your hand to get the treat keep talking softly.
DO NOT DO THIS DURING THE DAY DO IT IN THE EVENING< I know it's tempting but wait till he wakes up only wake him when you feel, he is okish to be with you.

Tips on holding,
Be gentle
Do not stroke his head until he trusts you otherwise he may bite in fight
Talk in same soft voice to let him know he is safe
Cup both hands to make him feel safe

First offer some food to her using your fingers, make sure not to let her bite them. Then put the food on your palm and let her take it from there. From my experience, hamsters will slowly creep over, sniff, grab a treat and dash off :) Eventually, she'll feel comfortable enough to hang around longer near your hand. Then she'll climb on your hand, stay there and you can gently move your hand out of the cage to play. Remember to do this close to the floor in case she freaks out and jumps off. The key here is patience

To tame your hamster you should

Pick up your hamster very carefully by scooping it up and cupping it in your hands,
The you should put it down in a nice and quite area where there will not be much noise and just gently stoke and play with him/her.
You can also groom your hamster as this will form a bond between you and your pet.
You can also feed your hamster from your hand by putting in in your hand and letting it eat they food or just giving the food to your hamster.
Talk to your hamster, this can help as it can become accustomed to the sound of your voice so you should also give it a name and say the name every time you come to do something with your hamster.

If you do this regularly then your hamster should become used to you, your voice and its surroundings and it will make the hamster become very happy and very tame.

I already have two hamsters and i had to do this.

I just got a male Chinese Dwarf hamster. I named him Lil Ray Ray. He always used to run away when I stuck my hand in his cage. Now he lets me pet him and I can manage to scoop him out. I didn't do anything special. After he bit me I came back for more to show him that it doesnt affect me. I put on mittens though just in case and simply scoop him out. Hes slowly starting to like it. But at first I would encourage him to go into the toilet paper tube and would ease him out from there into my hands. The treat thing doesnt work for me. I've tried and failed, he just doesnt like anything. i even got him to lick me, yes lick me. not bite. lick. good luck. just keep showing her that you won't give up. and get her used to your hands.

put some food in your hands then 15 mins every day put your hand in the cage so she can get used to your hand and when you have her out let her rub over your hands and body x
