Do you recommend critter trail cages?
explain why or why not
answer: They're not perfect, but I do like them. Just take good care of them.
I don't recommend a critter trail because of the cleaning duties. But it is very fun for your hamster and amusing for you. They are very colorful and they bigger they come the less hassle it becomes to put together. There is a huge down side if you have a scared and untamed hamster. If your hamster hides in tubes when afraid you can't get it out painlessly. They are fit for all sized hamsters and keep them entertained. I have a critter trail two story which is a hassle to clean (I just did a couple of hours ago) but my hamster is tamed so I can easily feed and get a hold of her. I know she is happy too.
Well I personally do not, because I've owned about 4 of them ... 2 critter trail ones, a critter trail mini, a critter trail revolution. On the critter trail ones, the hamsters chewed the latch off the top lounge and could escape ... on the critter trail mini, I accidentally kept breaking peices because the plastic was so flimsy. and the Critter trail revolution was just a very cruel item, there was literally nowhere for the hamster to go besides wheel and sleeping house .... If I ever got pet rodents again (I'm considering rats or mice) I would get a plain wire cage or an aquarium .... they ' re safer and easier to keep up.
I do not. They are difficult to clean, they aren't large enough, hard to put together (tubes) and they get stuffy easily. They become humid and warm and they do not have very good ventilation at all. I use aquariums when I had mice, and now that I have hamsters. They provide adequate ventilation, and they have a large area to chill in! pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com
I also recommend using a paper pulp type bedding, like carefresh. It cuts down the ammonia, absorbs urine better and cushions animals, even the old ones!
No, I wouldn't recommend any cage of that type . First of all, they are hard to clean. And as someone already mentioned, the tabs that hold things together break easily. The cages do not give enough ventilation. The wheels for exercise become noisy.
The best type of cage to get is a cage with 1/4 inch bar space.
i do not because ive heard people saying they break easily and hammies chew on them and break them. its just a peice of junk i havent had any because of those reasons. And its not fun the cage may look cool and fun but the water bottle is lame the hamster has to stretch all the way up to try to drink and it leaks and if its a syiran they can jump knock the bottle out of the hole and make there way out and escape! ill rather go for this company called habitrail. (not habitrail ovo that cage they came out was horrible casue just a bunch of balls stuck together). oh and its diffricult for dwarfs for a crittertrail casue the tube is hard for them to go up and down and for syiran its hard for them too cause they are big and gets stuck and clogged at the tubes!! its also hard to clean up too! Thats why I HATE this company !
