My sisters hamster butt is prolapsed and is hanging out quite a bit. We really dont want to bring it to vet. What can we do about this? Will it heal on its own? She is very upset about this and i dont want to tell her it will be fine and have the thing die tomorrow. Any info would be helpful

I had one of my hamsters do this. You really can only take him to a vet. The vet MAY be able to massage it back in. I brought mine back to the store and they said the vet would do what he could, but generally there isn't really anything one can do. He is going to be in great discomfort though (you would too wouldn't you?!). There really isn't anything to do.
