Hamsters mated but is the female pregnant?
I attempted to breed my two hamsters two weeks ago. He (Boo) is a bit younger than she (Maggie) is where she is just under a year old and he was about 4 months. They mated for a good 30 minutes and once they started losing interest we separated them. We did this once. It has now been two weeks. Maggie doesn't really look pregnant (she is not really any bigger in the hips) however she is drinking a LOT more and made a huge nest. Is she maybe pregnant with a small litter? She is still friendly, however we are secluding her as much as possible just in case she does give birth.
Any ideas?
Ps. We did have families lined up for the offspring.

You won't have long to find out! Average hamster gestation is at least 16 days up to about 21 in my experience, it varies depending on the type. Syrian hamsters usually no more than 17.
Building a huge nest is a pretty good sign she is. Watch to see if she's hoarding more food. Are her nipples more obvious? They should be by now if she's pregnant. pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com
She would probably benefit from a little extra protein right now if she is, try a little bit of boiled egg or tofu. Give her cage a clean out now, remove the wheel and any other toys, provide more nesting material, and wait and see over the next few days !
Glad you have homes lined up ...

Have bred hamsters in the past.
Hi!
When we bred hamsters in the past we found that the female starts showing about the week before birth. A tell-tale sign of pregnancy in hamsters is hoarding food even more than before and becoming overly obsessed with making nests, and you said yours has already made a big nest ... So, she could well be expecting!
good luck catching them when they come out
