Whats wrong with my rabbit?
so my rabbit won't eat hay. he used to now, he just doesn't eat it like he should, rabbits need to eat a pile of hay about the size of their bodies each day, but mine doesn't do that! he only eats like a strand or two if im lucky. i feed him 1/4 cup of Oxbow bunny basics (timothy pellets) each day. and about 1/2 cup to a cup of veggies everyday (and of course unlimited water!). but the hay gets ignored, and i know this because i like never ever have to fill his hay rack up! i occasionally give him fresh hay because he doesn't eat it for awhile, but that doesn't make a difference. is it the brand? i feed him Oxbow western timothy hay. and he loves the pellets which are the same brand, so idk.

should i try putting the hay on the cage floor instead of the hay rack? ever since he was a baby he has eaten out of a hay rack like this: http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http… and was never scared of it or anything. the problem is that idk how he'd take to having on the ground of his cage, he is a very tidy bunny and hates having anything on his cage floor, he hates bedding so i put carpet in there, and he uses a litter box lol, and hates having toys on the floor, it bugs him so much he goes into panic and tries to shove it all away. so should i stick to the hay rack? try another brand? or just leave him be? i mean he's healthy so yeah.

does his breed have anything to do with it? haha this is going to sound crazy, but he's a wild rabbit. i rescued him from a storm when he was a baby and his family got hit by cars. but he is very tame now, and is the sweetest thing. so do "wild" rabbits not like hay or something? i mean he used to eat it, if i remember right. any ideas?
answer:
Well, I'm not exactly sure, but all I know is you need to get your bunny eating hay. My Vet told me, when I had one of my bunnies in for a pre-exam, that my bunny hadn't been eating a lot of Hay (I wouldn't know I have two bunnies) And that she needed to be eating more, because Hay has fiber, and bunnies need fiber to help with their digestive tract. Bunny's diet should consist of 90% Hay (Vet told me so) Is your bunny eating other than that? If not, he could have overgrown teeth. Bunny's teeth grow constantly because of what they eat in the wild, and so, If they don't get enough hay, their teeth grow over their tongue and They don't eat... That is not good. If they don't eat for a certain amount of time, their digestive tract shuts down, and they die. I would just call a vet. They care about animals too. I hope I helped! And, I admire you for doing that! It's good to know there are some kind hearts in the world. :P

Vet Visit. Plus two bunnies.
It could be since he is a wild rabbit...i recomend calling a vet and asking over the phone for some advice most vets wont cost you anything Good Luck and i think that you are very nice for rescuing a wild bunny that most people would leave to die
