I looked at my Anole and he was green. I look at him a few minutes later and he was brown! Why is he brown now instead of green?
Anole's change color from brown to green and green to brown. When they are green, they are the happiest. Is your tank warm enough? Humid enough? If so, then he probably just wants to blend in with something brown.:)
They change colour based on protection. They blend in with their surroundings in order to hide from predators. However, sometimes they favor a colour over others. For example, my brothers anole was usually green, where as mine usually stayed brown. All anoles are different, but usually when they change colour it's for camouflage
Sometimes, it just means there stressed. I currently own 2 Green Anoles and they have PERFECT requirements and there always brown, sometimes they just decide to.
They change colors a lot. They are pretty cool! Just make sure you have the proper heat lamp or he will die: (
