My 2 year old bearded dragon refuses to eat crickets and most veggies (all fruit
the only thing he will eat is superworms and bok choy
and i was told not to give him any superworms until he starts eating the crickets but when i did that he still refused the crickets and didnt eat for 6 days! some people say not to worry and just give him the worms but i dont know if thats good for him ....
what he does when i give him crickets is close his eyes and do this twitching head shaking thing and same goes for all veggies except bok choy. he also doesnt eat veggies everyday if im lucky he will eat them 4 times a week.
he is very active and happy i always have fresh veggies and water in his tank .. plz help im starting to get worried ...
*** PS i have 2 bearded dragons. My other one is 7 months old and eats all the veggies they are aloud to and fruit and is in love with crickets he hates superworms. He literally jumps up and down until i get the crickets in his tank. so i know im not doing anything wrong ...
I agree, meal worms should not be used as a staple food item. They have a exoskeleton that is hard on the digestive tract (over feeding can lead to constipation or impaction, a severe blockage of the intestines that if not passed will lead to death) and they are very high in phosphorus, a calcium binder that doesn't allow reptiles to absorb calcium properly.

Have you tried to "slow the cricket down" a little? Try pinching off the cricket's jumping legs (maybe a couple of the walking legs) to make the cricket slower and maybe that will create more interest in the cricket. Be sure to pinch , not pull the legs or you will kill the cricket.
There are plenty of other insects you can try that are much better staple insect alternatives: phoenix worms, silk worms, horn worms, dubia roaches, and red-lobster roaches, just to name a few.
Have you tried mixing some better veggie with the stuff you know the beardy will eat? Then you can keep putting less and less of the "not so good stuff" in the salad until just the "good stuff" is left. Dark leafy greens, like collard greens, mustard greens, turnip greens, dandelion greens, endive, and escarole, should comprise most of the veggie part of the diet. Other veggies should be varied often. Here's a good veggie list with nutritional info to help you make good choices:

Yeah it's not good for them to eat a lot of worms. They should only be used as a treat.

He's probably going into brumation. Unless he loses A LOT of weight, don't worry. Beardies in captivity usually don't brumate for too long.
Do some research on it and maybe you will get some answers.
Try to feed canned crickets. Mix it with mealworms, superworms, and veggies. Mix well. He might not be able to catch the cricket. If not, he might accidentally eat crickets in the food mix. Then, he'll probably eat crickets again. Try canned!
Have you tried feeding him wood roaches? Mine loved the woodys also mine would only eat fresh fruit but only the frozen mixed vegies the ones that come diced up.
wtf? get off the crack
