It's this thermostat here
http://www.reptilebasics.com/helix-contr ... It has a 6 'long probe and I don't want the snake to mess with the wire.
Can I tape down the wire part and just leave the tip exposed? Or would that still affect the temperature reading? Is it okay to use tape inside a tank if I smooth it out completely or just use it high up out of the snake's reach?
I'm getting A LOT of different opinions, so I need to double check ...
THANKS IN ADVANCE!
The glue and fumes from the duct tape may not be good for your snake. If you go to a hardware store or even to Wal-Mart, you can find assorted sized packs of clear suction cups. They range in size from the size of a nickle to the size of a 50 cent piece. I use them to attach my thermometer probes and decorative artificial plants to my snake's enclosure. They are washable and reusable too. They may not work too well in plywood enclosure's .
almost all snakes are likely going to leave that thing alone and ignore it completely. you don't need to tape it.

if you feel the need to, that will also work, they likely won't be effected by it in any way.
my ball pythons couldn't have cared less about anything that wasn't either water or rats, and i'd guess your snake would be the same.
