is this a yellow bellied slider or red eared slider?

  iv bought a turtle and hes teeeny

he was sold to me as a yellow bellied slider

HOWEVER he had a smallll orange spot on his neck near to where his ears are on both sides. He doesnt look like a red ear but im thinking mayb hes a cross breed or something?

He could be a cross-breed. He looks more like a yellowbellied, I have had 4 yb, and when they were that small they had that same spot but after the first and secod shed it was gone. So i am going with the YB.
They do intergrade, as they are subspecies of the same species. There is also the Cumberland slider, which intergrades with either. YBS are easy to ID because they have the black dots only on the front half of the lower shell.



The subsp. Has little to do with the eventual size reached. The record shell length is 11 3/8 "for each.
I think that's a red eared slider because he looks like one.
