I just bought a crested gecko yesterday from an expo., The dude sed they dont need light or heat but the cage seems to cold. Should i get him like a night bulb ... you no those redd ones??? Im confused idw him 2 dyyee: 'O what shud i do??? oh and hes perfectly healthy he eats and climbs in his leaves and stufff but his cage seems too cold? wat shud i do ... thanks;)
It depends on how cold it is getting and what the temps are like where you live.
The temperature should never drop below 65F and never go above 80-85F. If it is dropping too low then a low watt red heat bulb on top of his viv could be a good idea. If you haven't already got a heat mat though then that should be your first thing to buy ... this needs to be stuck to the warm side of his viv. Be sure to get a digital thermometer for each side of his viv so you can check the temperatures are right.
Hes a reptile. All lizards need heat! You should at least get him a night heat lap but not anything to hot. Make sure to have a thermostat in the cage to check the temperature and not fry him. He is also a nocturnal lizard so make sure to try to feed him around night time. Lizards are more active and healthy and eat more when they are warm and also can grow bigger because of it.
yes because you should have one side where it is heated and one side with water where he can just be cool. do not listen to Google ads. i am a vet and sometimes those ads will actually kill your pet.
