Like pitch black all the time
Alice is horribly wrong, Ball pythons are nocturnal thus they do not need a uvb light to produce vitamin d (these are not basking lizards) they get all the calcium they need from the bones of the mice they eat.So a calcium supplement is not needed. As for keeping your ball python in the dark all the time it actually would not bother him it is not as important to keep a certain night and day cycle going with them due to the fact they prefer and love the night. So as long as your enclosure is warm with a hot side of 85-90 and a cold side of about 75-80 then you are good to go, But a little room light for a couple of minutes to hours a day would not hurt.
Ball pythons do not need a day-night light cycle. They will be just fine with no light at all. Personally, I do use a day-night light cycle, but I know a very successful breeder who has around 600 to 700 ball pythons and for some odd reason, he does not keep any lights turned on in his facility unless he's in there cleaning or feeding. There are no windows and they remain in complete darkness when he's not in there. Strange, but it works since he produces numerous ball pythons of various morphs.
No, your Ball Python needs a day-night cycle. However, ambient room light is enough for this. If you are not keeping your Ball Python in a completely opaque container, you should be fine.
pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com Edit: Just because this random breeder gets away with it doesn't mean it is the best thing. There have been a lot of drunk drivers that have made it safely to their destination, but it doesn't mean that's a good idea, either .
probably not the best but it won't die if you have the proper heating ... all reptiles need heat to properly digest and grow. I would have some type of light in the room to simulate sunlight. good luck
No it's not, they will get cold and die as they are cold blooded animals. They will also need a UVB light to produce vitimin D3. To keep them with no lights will kill the animal.
