My leopard gecko doesn't look like hes doing to well. His tail is skinny and i've had him for 3 weeks and i've been feeding him a few maggots to get his tail fat. So far .. no luck so im wondering how I can fatten him up. I heard wax worms does it but I heard maggots are the same and will do the same. Since i have maggots i use them. My dad bought them from a fishing store because he likes to fish. So should i choose wax worms instead or are maggots fine too? If you know then why are wax worms better? If you know how i can help him please tell me because i don't want him to die. Thank you ...
http://www.progeckos.com/caresheets/leos ... Wax worms are high in fat, not nutrition. Your leo needs good nutrition. Gutloaded crickets are best. Do not use bait insects ... they are often infected with parasites or disease.
Check your habitat ... usually when a reptile doesn't eat something is wrong with your setup or they have intestinal parasites ... very common in these guys.
Your gecko maybe a little stressed from his move, which is not uncommon in leos. i had 3 that came and they seriously didn't eat properly for weeks. I'd try feeding him dusted and loaded (pre fed) crickets. If he seems quite slow and lethagic put the crickets in the fridge for afew minutes to slow them down before feeding them. I would take a stool sample to the vet and have it tested to make sure there's nothing wrong internally with him and then go from there
i would say feed him crickets that you get from a pet store, i use to own one and that is what i feed mine. if you still are concern i would say call a vet or talk to a person at a reptile store or even get a book
wax worms make way better feeders IMO because they are more fattening that maggots are (aren't the maggots at bait stores like wild caught or something?) You can feed him gut loaded crickets as well. But being he is eating its and still losing weight its either you are over exaggerating or the little guy has something wrong with him on the inside like parasites so you should get him to the vet with a fecal sample at hand.

Pleas post a picture/video as well, because a lot of the time when people think there lizard are too thin they are often mistaken and the reptile is healthy. How many leopard geckos have you seen in order to compare his weight/tail base too . That's how it is when you get a new reptile you get very concerned.Just my cents cents, but still take in too consideration what i said above.
