Is ground english walnut shells good for bearded dragons or no?
bc i have ground english walnut shells for it and they said sand is bad and carpet can sometimes rip out their claws.. so is this a good choice?
idk
Walnut shells are terrible. They are undigestible if they are swallowed and can cause death. I use calcium sand. It looks nice and natural, and if they eat it, it just gives them calcium. Mine like to like and eat it sometimes when they want a little extra calcium. Try that instead. :) Its the best stuff I have ever used

Don't use walnut shells it is very bad for them! Don't use calci sand either though because it smells and is overall horrible ask any reptile breeder it is very bad I would go with regular sand or reptile carpet because they are both very safe choices for your beardie. Please don't go out and try calci sand it's bad! Hope I helped!

Out of all of them the carpet is safest. Sand and walnuts shells can both cause impaction, get in the nose, eyes, irritate the skin, etc. Walnut shells have sharp edges to them which can cause damage to the bearded dragons intestines and stomach. The "sand" they sell at pet stores is far from sand and NOT natural. They have added calcium and vitamins which the dragon wants and will eat to get. If you want to use sand (which I do not recommend) use a washed and screened children's play sand. Personally I use slate tiles over sand for my leopard geckos and love it. Cheap, easy to clean, safe, natural, etc.
