ok so im getting a bearded dragon and will be getting a 3 foot enclosure .. i know that there will need to be a cold side and a warm/basking side and also a uvb bulb lighting the whole tank, ive done a fair bit off research and have found out that the warm side will need to be 30-32 * c with a basking spot of 35-43 * c and the cold side will need to be 21-26 * c, is that right?? so ive got the temps worked out but i cant find anywhere that tells me what wattage bulbs ill need to use? will i need a day and a night bulb?
For a 3 feet enclosure, I would say to use at least a 75 watt bulb for the basking area. 100 watt might be better to reach the desired temperatures. With my bearded dragon, I needed a 75 watt bulb in the summer and a 100 watt bulb in the winter to compensate for the different temperatures in my home.
You will need a night time bulb as well if the temperatures in your home drop below the minimum temperature for the beardie at night. I typically used a 60 watt dark blue night time bulb in the winter and a 15 watt dark blue bulb in the summer .
