The male is a bit younger than the female, and I've noticed recently that when I feed them, the female starts hunting immediately but the male stays back and eats less than usual. They are also slowly coming up to that age where they can breed. Should I separate them?
Yes you should seperate them. If they breed and the female isn't healthy enough she can die. The eggs require a lot of calcium and that comes from mom, so that can take a lot out of her. Unless you know how to properly incubate and take care of babies, I Suggest sperating them, she lay lay up to 25 eggs at one time.
How big is the enclosure? Sounds like the female is being more dominant and so is feeding more. i would recommend that you seperate them both now, so you can se what the male feeding habits are like when it is alone. If it starts feeding well again, then it was due to the female being dominant.
Well have you had the male long? If not then that's why he's not eating he feels scared with female if he's new and she's been there for a while. Give it a few more days and if they act the same separate them.
take them out of the cage and feed them thats wat i do so i know how much he eats and that none is left over.
it matters how old they are really but maybe you should think about separating them, just to be safe
