i was just wondering what you think
It isn't a necessity but it isn't going to hurt a leo every once in awhile.
I feed f/t pinkies since I can't bear to feed live. I ONLY give them to breeding females or rescue leos who are severely underweight. They are basically fat and that is all.
I wouldn't condone or suggest someone trying to use them as a staple as it will do a lot more harm than good.
But I have learned to tune people out who tell me I am killing my leo's etc. I mean my oldest leo just turned 23 years old yesterday and he has been fed pinkies every 2 months (he is one that won't gain weight no matter how much you try even though he is super healthy and eats like a horse) since he was big enough to eat one.
from my knowledge of owning one .. they don't ... if you feed it one .. you will be spending lots of money feeding it for the rest of it's life. So unless you have some sort of fetish of watching lizards eat mice babies, i don't suggest you go that way. I fed mine regular children, mostly human. but i guess you maay want to stick with FEEDER CRICKETS.
they do not need to eat pinkies. they are insect eating geckos. as long as you feed crickets and different kinds of worms (mealworms, waxworms ...) that have vitamin powder on them, you are feeding a varied diet already.
We give ours one once a month and he loves it. People who say they're expensive clearly have never bought a pinkie!! It eats crickets dusted with calcium and vitamins and like I said once every month, I give him a small live pinkie. Our Tokay also eats pinkies. That one's a beast though. Don't get one ... He's technicaly not mine.
They don't need them and it isn't necessary. It isn't going to hurt it to have one once in a while as a treat. No more than one every month at most.
