My bearded dragon always wants to get out of his cage? WHY?

My bearded dragon is fairly young still, and he always starts to claw at the glass or try to climb it to escape. What's his beef?
Sounds like he is bored. They are very curious and social creatures. Mine knocks on the glass until I take her out, she spends about 3-4 hours out playing. Try switching up his tank every once in awhile, keep it stimulated. Mine has a hammock, rocks, drift wood, a fountain, a mini tree. She knocks less to come out, and spends more time knocking things over, jumping from one thing to another, and generally making a mess. But she's happy doing it. Good luck.

He may also be looking for more food, make sure you are feeding him his fill of crickets and a veggie/fruit salad is available all day until two hours before bedtime.
Aha, i have 4 bearded dragons and they do the same thing all the time, most of the time its them battling their own reflections in the glass, i put up a background on my tank it pretty much stopped it, i do have areas where the class isnt covered they always seem to find it and dance with themselves
Yes, baby beardies frequently glass dance. They are pretty active at this age. Provide a lot of climbing items and hides for him. It will keep him busy and also give him extra security babies need. Also, make sure you are measuring your basking temps with a digital probe thermometer ... it should be 100-105F for babies. If your tank is too small and the whole thing is getting over heated (it should be in the low 80's at the cool end) then he could be stressed from overheating. pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

How big is his enclosure? Beardies like to have a lot of room to move around. Mine scratches when he needs to poop. I let him out and he runs all over the room. I think it helps get things moving because he'll usually poop after he's been out for a while. You can let him out to run around, as long as you keep an eye on him. Also make sure the floor is clean, they will taste anything that is laying around , even bits of fluff. I caught mine with half a cat toy in his mouth once. I buy the jumbo mealworms and will toss one on the floor on the opposite side of the room, he can hear it or see it from quite a distance away and will tear across the room to eat it.
He's not trying to escape, he's glass-dancing. Mine does it when it is dark in my room and light in his viv ... He sees his own reflection and is attacking it.
