im in the process of trying to get just the right temperature setup for my LG, with just the heat pad it's around 80f on the warm side, and when i lay a 75watt heat lamp on the screen top the temp gets way too hot. How can i get just the right temperature on the warm side?
Do you have a thermostat and an accurate (preferably digital) thermometer?
With both of these and a large enough working heat mat then reaching and maintaining temperatures shouldnt be a problem:)
I already answered this. If it is already 80 degrees without the light, then you DO NOT NEED THE LIGHT TOO. Simple as that.
edit: I have owned 2 of my leopards over 7 yrs!! they are still alive cause i know my sh * t. some variance in temperature is ok. why would you double post the same question? don't get rude with me. I'm trying to help you.
The heat lamp over top is not necessary at all. They prefer belly heat. Preferably under their hide where they are going to spend most of their time during the day. They don't need the light as they are nocturnal
You could try to find a lower wattage bulb then the 75. A 50 might work.
