I just held my bearded dragon ... he likes to crawl up onto the back of my hand ... when I put him back in the tank my hand has a big red rash right where he was. What could this be?
Sometimes my beardies leaves red marks on my skin too. But for me it's more like the reaction to a cat scratch. Are you sure your beardie didn't scratch you with his nails? It never hurts when it happens, but after wards it's itchy and red, very similar to a cat scratch.
Jon: Actually, bearded dragons get rid of their "pee" through their faeces.
Anyway, it is possible that you are allergic to something on your beardies skin, or your bearded dragon itself. Is there anything you use in your bearded dragons vivarium which he could have got on his skin?
Edit:: It could be the powder which is irritating you, yes. I would see a dermatologist to try and pinpoint exactly what it is.=)
Make sure your crickets are gutloaded and watered before using them as food.
Get rid of the sand ... it's a great breeding ground for parasites and bacteria. It is also a common cause of impaction.
