I love snakes! I own three! I got my first when I was in boarding school as a matter of fact - a present. It was a corn snake - one of the safest and friendliest to humans. They are also smaller than most other pythons - so they are easier to manage. Children's pythons are usually friendly to humans, although some individuals can be snappy towards handlers. Make sure you purchase yours from a CAPTIVE breeder, as these will be much, much friendlier than ones raised in the wild. Clean tanks, nutritious food, and a big enclosure, with a branch, a warming lamp, and some water will make your pet exremely happy. Children's pythons - as you know, and most of the world, apart from stupid girls that scream OMG ITS GOING TO KILL ME COZ ITS POISONOUS! will know..pythons are non-venomous. The way they kill their pray is by contriction. Pythons generally will not try to constrict a human, as they know they are too big to digest, although the bigger the python, the more risky it is. As long as the enclosure is secure, and you have a good eye on his enclosure - perhaps a camera watching him, or maybe your boarding house could have a drill for the very highly unlikely circumstance that he does escape, is to check for all students, make sure everyone is safe, and then get the snake. My corn snake, Mystique, from boarding school, was allowed out for handling three times a day, could not be taken out of my room, and the school would not pay for his feed. Also his feed wasn't allowed to be live or native (such as possums (i live in australia)). Ok, well I hoped I helped you, and I hope you get your snake! They are so much nicer than fish or hermit crabs, and they also don't mind if you don't pat them all the time. Good luck !!
