What size tank should my bay red ear sliders have??
A RES should have roughly 10 gallons per inch of shell. So a 4 inch turtle should have 40+ gallons.
well i keeped mine in a 40 gallon so i wouldn't have to upgrade once he got bigger
The rule of thumb is 10 gallons per inch of shell, cumulative. However, RES are so territorial and aggressive that I would increase that to 15 or more gallons if you have more than one.For example, if you have two, with shells of 2" and 3", that would be 75 gallons, not 50.
