feeder fish

Hi. Painted Turtles will eat any fish they can catch – even if the fish is too large or fast, the turtle will pursue it constantly. Another problem if that, even with a good filter, it’s difficult to maintain fishes with turtles due to the ammonia and other wastes turtles produce. The only luck I’ve had is in huge exhibits (zoo exhibits) and using fishes that hide all day and only come out at night (small painted turtles and adult bullhead catfishes). But it’s not possible in typical home aquariums.
