My skinny savannah monitor who eats too much?
Well, I recently bought another savannah monitor to breed with my girl and he's a good length, but I'm a bit worried he might be extra skinny. I havn't really had him long enough to know if he's losing or gaining weight. He eats like a champ though and I've been feeding him a little more than I feed my girl, trying to get him fattened up. He isn't exactly low energy and I attributed his laziness to acclimation and it very well could be, but I was just wondering what you guys thought about what might be wrong with him. Does he have a parasite or a calcium deficiency? My girl is very active and has been fine. She's actually kind of fat, I don't think they've bred. I have the hot spot at a a little over 125 and the rest of the cage varies in heat, the low end being in the high 70's. They eat 1 frozen thawed adult mouse every 2 days and a few calcium dusted crickets every day or so. He won't eat the crickets though, he might be too big for them because they don't seem to peak his interest. I soak them once a week in tepid water for about an hour. Well I think that's everything everyone should know. thanks

Check his stool for any signs of parasites. It would be good to include a complete vitamin supplement in his diet and try to offer him a little Gator Aid just in case his electrolyte levels are low from dehydration. Obvious signs of calcium deficiencies include trembling and overall weakness. If you notice that he is loosing weight dramatically for any reason, have him looked at by a vet.
I would definately have him checked for parasites.
