Is a heat pad (120watt) and a haet lamp be to much heat for a ball python?

Depends on what you are keeping him in because in a 10gallon that would be way to much but in a 55gallon you could get away with that. But yeah it will still most likely give of to much heat lose the heat lamp keep the mat.Or if your house gets to cold at night you can keep the bulb on for the "day" cycle (which is really not important to them)and use your mat for the night cycle but it is toattaly up to you either way having them both on at the same time you will prob over heat him.Oh yeah it also depends om the watt of the heat lamp.

The best thing is to match the power of the heat sources to the size of the enclosure that you are keeping your snake in. Having thermometers in the cage will tell you when things get too cool or, too hot for a ball python. Usually, the bigger the cage, the more heat will be needed to heat a larger cage area. If you are planning to heat a small enclosure like a 10, 15, 20 or even a 30 gallon tank, a 120 watt heating pad is too powerful and adding a heat lamp would make it way too hot for a ball python. Ball pythons are not desert snakes. They are tropical/semi tropical snakes. A hotside for a ball python cage is good at 90-92 degrees and the cool side is good in the low 80's. The cool side can drop to the upper 70's at night as long as there is a nighttime hotside around 88 degrees. Two helpful items that can help regulate and monitor cage temperatures are a thermostat and a rheostat.
depends on the tank size but i think just the heat pad will work
