Question about mississippi map turtles 10 pnts best answer?

i know the diet of the turtles i know they can eat earth worms and i was wondering if i could just go outside n catch one and if i can do that how can i prepare the worm for the turtle. my turtle is fairly small he is just a little smaller than my palm can i just cut the worm up into small chunks and put the rest on the fridge any help is greatly appreciated
you shouldn't feed your pet worms from your yard because the worms from outside may have viruses, paristies, and harmful bacteria your turtle may not be immune to due to it never eating outside foor. the food it's use to is prepared and cleansed ... please keep it away from outside bugs to be safe

Hatchlings require once daily feeding up to about 6 months. At this age, a diet of pellets and live foods is recommended. Feed just enough to keep them from being hungry, but don't let them gorge themselves. After 6 months or so cut back on the feedings to every other day and add vegetation into the diet. Adjust amount of food at feeds accordingly with growth rate. Romaine lettuce may be offered 'all you can eat' at any age (romaine is mostly water, & not apt to overload them on protein).
I wouldn't feed from outside they can carry all sorts of parasites then you will be making a trip to the vet. pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

Most bait shops breed and raise their worms indoors so little to no risk of parasites. If they are too big you can cut them up and feed like that.

There are a ton of different bugs you can feed your map. A favorite of my turtles are crickets, silkworms, hornworms, and mealworms. Be sure not to overfeed them on protein since it will cause him/her to grow too fast and cause shell pyramiding.
We all know that wild turtles only eat at restaurants, where their worms are cooked to kill any parasites. Suuuure. Just make sure that the worms have not been exposed to pesticides lately; the chance of parasite transmission is minimal. Still, a worm farm is a good way to provide a steady supply of food that is safe for your turtles as well as a good way to dispose of food scraps. The worm castings are good for potted plants, too.
earthworms from your yard might have internal parasites. get them from a bait shop (ones that have been raised indoors for food). it should eat live fish, like guppies and crickets held with tweezers. pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

you can cut the worm up some to feed it. any left overs would probably grow mold in the fridge if left more than a day. keep live worms in the fridge and only cut up one at a time to feed. then you won't have many left overs to keep.

they also eat floating pellets. live fish and pellets should be fed more than worms.
chopping one up into pieces about the size of his food pellets (or whatever you got from the pet store) is fine. it would be a good idea to get a worm from somewhere that you know there were no pesticides or fertilizers put in the ground. If you just caught the turtle and need something to feed him, i would recommend going to the pet store and getting food pellets for him instead of catching worms.
