i noticed one day tarrence (my yellow footed tortoise) looked like he was pooping out his insides. I was wondering if this is ok, and what is he doing.
He really might have done. The vet can put them back inside but then its still risky as they can come back out. If you dont get it sorted right now it will die. It happened to a Leopard Gecko i had through straining because he had eaten some wood chippings in the pet shop i got him from. I lost him so act fast and take it to the vets.
Did they go back in??? If his intestines are hanging out, of course that is not ok. Sometimes they prolapse their colons from straining due to parasites or poor diet. Male tortoises can "flash" their hemipenes ... a normal behavior.

That is called prolapse, you need to take him to a vet, until you get him there, take him out of his cage and put him in a clean rubbermaid with clean paper towel. also a sugar water bath helps a lot. you don't want it to get dry.

This happens a lot from their diets, not enough or too much fiber is the main cause.
Kimbee has it. If the "intestine" goes back in on its own, don't worry about it; he will outgrow the habit in time. If not, get an immediate appointment with a reptile vet.
sounds like it may be a male and he prolapsed. this would be when his penis comes outl
I guess so
