You will require very thick glass or plexiglass. It will also be easily scratched by all this activity. My major concern is for the snake. Snakes are mostly deaf, only having vestigial inner ears. However, they are extremely sensitive to vibrations. It would be incredibly cruel to a snake to subject to this type of environment for even a limited time. A snake is a living, breathing creature and should not be used as a prop in this manner.
Please consider another gimmick for your stage design.
Edit: If that is the case, then don't have the glass be on a surface where people or equipment will sit/stand/jump/whatever. If this is strictly for viewing by the audience, the plexi or glass needs to be on the sides. Such a design should not be difficult. Where on the stage are you considering placing the cage design? If it is in the front of the stage, then only a single window in will be needed. You can have a trap door to access on the floor of the stage. If it is for a riser, a cool idea would be to build in plexi on 3 or four sides, but with a wood surface on top that will support whatever will be on that riser.
pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com For non-performance times where you may actually have a snake housed in there, make sure it is properly heated for the species of snake in question.
Sure, Plexiglas will allow you to build it big, assume you're going to use
big snakes so they can be seen. Frame it with 2 x 4's paint them black and
use screws to attach the Plexiglas. Tell who ever builds it to pre-drill the
holes in the Plexiglas just a little smaller than the screws they are going to
use to attach the Plexiglas so it doesn't crack
