Winters coming fast here in MN so im looking to get one final shipment of reptiles. What i cant choose is who to get/what to get. Right now im REALLY loving this gargoyle gecko and crested male. But i Also wanna get a few crocodile geckos and panther geckos. But then i feel bad for the baby cresteds are the pet store (already bought 2 of them). I just dont know who to choose! Pros to getting the crested and gargoyle-
great prices
male is a adult
gargoyle is the clutch mate to one i already got.
Males a "fury" crested with red dalmation stops
Gargoyle is a orange blotch
Breeder geckos (breeder is VERY nice) so i know there well taken care of.
Cons
for the to its 180 with shipping so its still kinda high for 2 geckos
will have to buy a set up for the male.
Pros to croco/panthers
can get a captive bred population of crocs out there
prices are GREAT, there even on sale.
crocs are wild caught thus wil be ssuper stressed.
pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com
Con
Would need to move some geckos around or buy a new set up for them
Cant do much with the crocs other then feed and breed them
will be well over 200 bucks for them.
Pros to getting the baby cresteds
Saving a life
get a new baby
Con
could be infected with something
are underweight
may not make it
no fancy morphs and are tailess (nothing wrong with that tho!)
Thoughts? Which would you go for.
I'm sure you know this, but buying a reptile out of sympathy only adds to the problem. You buy a reptile that might die, and the pet store that sold the animal in poor condition gets money. No one wins (except the pet store that can continue to sell deathly animals). I think I remember reading about you having problem out of sympathy purchasing. It's never a good thing. I know it's hard, seeing a reptile in poor condition, but it might not work out other than giving the store more money.
pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com I'd go with the Gargoyles. It's less hassle than the other choice (Crocs/Panthers), and plus Gargoyles are pretty cool geckos. I don't have any hands on experience with them, but I've read a few articles and seen a few. They look like living art, and it seems like the ones you've looked at are perfect for breeding.
I'd go with the Gargs, but that's up to you.
Hope I helped.=)
And sorry about those babies at the pet store ....=(
I would go for the baby cresteds, even though they might be a little unhealthy, it's still nice to say that you rescued an animal that could/would have died without your help. this is simply what i would do, you might choose something else. It's not very often that you are asking the questions, you're usually the one to answer them=]
get more gargs and cresties no need to waste money on a panter and croc there more along the way of looking nice not to hold dont get me wrong you can hold them but wont become as tame as the garg and crestie plus you could breed and such its not like you will not be able to order them if you want to or get one of each but i would go crestie: D
