Corn snake question? (Twenty characters)?

I have a basking lamp for my snake and a heating pad at the bottom of her cage ... and yet she chooses to hide under her rock filled with water ... and when I take her out, she is freezing. At first I was thinking too much warmth, but i put both on one side of the cage and yet she chooses to be where it's cold. Why is this? Is she trying to hibernate? I don't want her to get too cold and get sick. .. but I'm not sure why she's staying away from the heat sources.
It may be that the warm side is too hot. You don't need lamps with corns ... they warm by laying on warm surfaces so only a heat mat is needed. And since they are nocturnal, it is natural for them to hide during the day and be more active at night. They will typically hide in their substrate or in or under their hides. This is natural. Make sure your heat mat (use a digital probe thermometer) warms the bottom of the tank to 85F. A dimmer switch can be used to change temps as needed.

If your setup is correct, she'll go where she needs to when she needs to warm up.

its a corn snake thing. actually a lot of snakes do it to be completely honest. im not sure why they do it but don't worry its ok and nothing to worry about. corn snakes really don't need much just a heat pad and a light and water.
