Is my turtle hibernating ?

Undecided Question

Is my turtle hibernating ?
I have one red-eared turtle
in the summer she used to eat and swim normally but now when its winter she doesn't eat as much , she's always sleeping , Does that mean she's hibernating or Is she dieing ?
Hibernation - aka Brumation is very normal for all reptiles. Be sure you have proper heat and lighting for her. I have a tortoise and she always slows down this time of year, even though I have proper heat and lighting. If your heat isn't right for her, then yes, she could die. Be sure the water isn't too cold either.
Do you have any kind of lighting or heat source in its tank. They are supose to at all times have the uvb light and heating device... You will have to keep it at about 75 to 85 degrees. If you turlte is hibernateing, it has a high precentage of dyeing. In captivity, that is the common cause of death of turtles.
